Behind the Build: Engineering the Ultimate FIFA Studio Desk for TSN

We were recently tapped to fabricate the main anchor desk for TSN’s high-profile FIFA studio broadcast, live from Vancouver’s iconic Jack Poole Square. It was an incredible build that brought together massive scale, premium materials, and intricate tech integration.ity or emotion. Address their pain points or questions to establish a connection. The Design: Industrial Meets Organic

Designed by the brilliant minds at Mood Designs (spearheaded by Spike), the vision for this desk was all about balancing a sleek, modern broadcast look with warm, natural textures.

To bring Spike’s design to life, we combined a rugged, high-end metal finish with rich, detailed wood grain accents. The contrast is striking under broadcast lighting—giving the set a grounded, premium feel that looks just as sharp up close as it does from a wide crane shot.

The Specs: 18 Feet of Broadcast Engineering

Building for a major sports network means meeting incredibly strict functional requirements. This wasn’t just a piece of furniture; it was a highly engineered technical hub.

  • The Scale: Coming in at a massive 18 feet long, the desk is built to comfortably seat at least four commentators with plenty of breathing room for monitors, script notes, and tech gear.
  • The Branding: We seamlessly integrated custom, inlaid backlit logos right into the face of the desk. The glow had to be perfectly calibrated—bright enough to pop on camera, but balanced so it wouldn’t wash out or create glare on the broadcast feed.
  • The Location: Because it’s situated in Jack Poole Square, the desk forms the literal centerpiece of TSN’s Vancouver footprint, framed by one of the most beautiful backdrops in the country.

From raw materials to the final clear coat, every square inch of this 18-foot beast was crafted to show-ready perfection.

A huge thank you to Spike and the team at Mood Designs for trusting us with their vision, and to TSN for letting us play a part in bringing the game to millions of fans. Next time you catch the pre-game analysis, keep an eye out for the desk!
